About Ahvery:


Ahvery Thomas is from the small collegiate town of Grambling, La. Here, she graduated from the laboratory school. She then enrolled and graduated from the HBCU located in the same town, Grambling State University. Here is where she was elected, Miss Grambling State University, 2009-2010. She pledged the Delta Iota Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Management and a Master of Science in Sports Administration. She then worked for a Fortune 500 company, J. P. Morgan Chase, for a year. She left that job when she was accepted into law school at Southern University Law Center.


She then began to work in the Athletics Department on campus and at the Sun Belt Conference in New Orleans , La. After graduating from Law School and passing the Louisiana Bar Exam, she was promoted to the Director of NCAA Compliance and Title IX Investigator. She later started serving her community by taking a position at the Legal Services firm working with foster children. She is now a practicing attorney in the Baton Rouge area.


In her free time, she enjoys volunteering with helping feed those who are less fortunate and mentoring the youth. She also enjoys reading, writing, and spending time with family and friends. Her aspirations in life is to own her own law firm and become a successful entrepreneur owning businesses that not only add to the economy within the community but give second chances to youth. She also wants to start a non-profit focusing on those youth in need the second chances.
