Lady Mogul Talk with Ayanna Spivey


In this segment of Lady Mogul Talk, we speak with Ayanna Spivey about her HBCU experience at Southern University and her upcoming co-authored book with The HBCU Experience Movement. We also discuss the motivation behind starting her platform "We Are Educated" and why it is important to give back.


About Ayanna


Ayanna Spivey was born in the shadow of Southern University in Baton Rouge, LA. She was raised in Moreno Valley, Ca. Ayanna’s leadership skills and creativity revealed themselves early in her childhood from being involved in her home church’s youth ministry, youth choir, youth council, and various social events. She really explored those skills while in high school lettering in 3 sports, active in Associated Student Body, Black Student Union, and the becoming the Southern California Regional President of Black Student Unions. These experiences laid the foundation for her time at Southern University and the beginning of her career in higher education, through various positions in the Student Government Association, Miss Sophomore and then Miss Southern on the Royal Court. She also took part in the new student summer orientations, football recruiting, and being a member of the Alpha Tau chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority Inc. All these endeavors sparked the ideas of wanting to go into higher education. Upon graduating from Southern University with a Bachelors Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies, with a concentration in Social Work and Sociology, she returned to California and received a Master of Science in Higher Education leadership and Student Development from California Baptist University.
